My Fiance accidentally Sprain his ankle

My fiance accidentally sprain his ankle this morning, while he is going down the stairs. I saw the look in his face, as he suffers from the shooting pain of his sprained ankle. So the first thing that we do is give the ankle a cold compress so that in can prevents much of the inflammation from developing, counteracts the increased blood flow to the sprained ankle, and It can also reduces the swelling, redness, and warmth.

After the cold compress my fiance rest his injured ankle to prevents further injury and avoids stress on already inflamed tissue. A research about sprained ankle, it must be elevated to help the body to absorb fluid that has leaked into the tissue. As much as possible it must be elevated above the level of the heart. Anti-Inflammatory medicines can also be helpful.

My fiance have to wait until he can walk it off, but for now he need some rest to have a fast recovery from his injury.

Risk Factor on developing Gestational Diabetes

About 3 percent to 5 percent of pregnant women who have never had elevated blood glucose levels may develop gestational diabetes, a form of diabetes that occurs only during their pregnancy. As a part of prenatal care, pregnant women should be screened for gestational diabetes between he 24th and 28th weeks of pregnancy. Many women who had gestational diabetes also eventually develop type 2 diabetes. Babies born to mothers who had gestational diabetes during their pregnancy have a condition called macrosomia, which risks damage to their shoulders during birth. Such newborns may have very low blood glucose levels at birth. They are also at higher risk of developing breathing problems, obesity, and type II diabetes as adults.

Here are the risk factors on developing gestational diabetes:

  • History of diabetes in a first-degree relative. The risk is more than 1.5 times greater than in women without a history.
  • Weight gain in early adulthood. A high BMI at age 18 greatly increases the risk.
  • High body mass index (BMI) before pregnancy. A pre-pregnancy BMI of 25 to 29.9 doubles the risk. The risk triplets with BMI of 30 or more.
  • Advancing age. Women older than 40 are more than twice as likely to develop it as women ages 25 to 29.
  • Nonwhite ethnicity. The risk is 1.45 times greater for Hispanics, 1.75 times greater for African Americans and 2.32 times greater for Asians
  • Previously having a stillbirth of unknown cause.
  • Previously bearing a child who weighed more than nine pounds.
  • Cigarette smoking.

Diabetes linked to Kidney Problems

Diabetes is a disastrous problem that affects kidneys, blood vessels, intestines and every other organ in the body. It is a condition in which the body is unable to produce or properly use insulin. Insulin, a hormone that is necessary for converting starches, sugar and other food into energy. The cause of diabetes is unknown and there is no known cure. It can early on also be controlled and managed through proper diet. And you should know, effective management may be achieved under a doctor's care.

It was estimated that there were 20.8 million children and adults who are afflicted with the disease. That is just about 7% of the population. Of that figure, 14.6 million people had been diagnosed, but 6.2 million people were thought to have diabetes but it had not been discovered yet. In addition, just about fifty four million folks are pre-diabetic with 1 1/2 million new disease found in people older than 20, showing up annually.

Diabetes is the most common cause of kidney disease. In fact, hypertension and diabetes are the two primary causes of kidney disease. This causes an estimated 70 percent of kidney failure with diabetes accounting of 44 percent of kidney failure cases. The early stages of kidney disease have no symptoms . It injures your body and by the time it is finally detected, the disease is so far advanced that it quite often is too far to prevent failure of the kidneys. Once your kidneys fail, you have two options: kidney transplant or dialysis. If you do not receive one of these, you will die.

How Diabetes causes Kidney Disease

When the kidneys are working properly, the glomeruli (tiny filters that are in the kidneys) keep all proteins inside of your body. Protein is essential for a variety of operations within your body and are required to keep you healthy. Diabetes creates too high of a concentration of glucose in the blood which damages the glomeruli. The result is that they can no longer keep the protein in the body and it seeps into the urine from the kidneys.

When kidneys are damaged they no longer function efficiently and do not cleanse our waste as they should. When this occurs, the waste and fluids build up in the blood instead of being expelled in the urine. The longer this happens, the worse the damage becomes until the kidneys eventually cease to function.

The Progression of Renal Disease

It can require years for diabetic kidney disease to develop. Some diabetics experience hyper filtration in the first few years of their having diabetes. This means that the glomeruli actually function at a much higher capacity than normal. Once damage starts, however, it continues. As a person develops kidney disease, they will have a blood protein named albumin that finally starts to leak into the urine in small amounts. At this time, the glomeruli are really functioning normally.

The progression of the disease leads to more protein leaking into the urine and the glomeruli begin to progressively fail as the filtering begins to drop. Waste is retained in the serum causing the filtration failure. As a result, the kidneys stop functioning.

How to Prevent Kidney Problems if you have Diabetes

Having diabetes, you can often prevent kidney problems. Use these steps to keep your kidneys healthy: * Control your diabetes by eating the right foods and a good exercise regimen * Take your medicine as prescribed * Have your physician test your blood and urine routinely for kidney problems * If testing shows that you do have kidney problems, ask your doctor about medications like ARBs (angiotensin II receptor blockers) and ACE inhibitors that can help keep your kidneys healthy.

A diagnosis of diabetes does not have to result in kidney disease. As long as you stay on top of your condition, manage it well and follow your provider's orders, there is no reason that you can't live a long, healthy, happy life - without kidney disease.

Simple Substitutes for Salt and Sugar

Yes there are some food that we can substitute with Salt and sugar. We don't need to give away the taste of our favorite food sacrifice the flavor just to be healthy. There are some alternatives to choose from to have a great flavor to our food.

Health Risk on on using a wrong size Bra

The shoulder strap of your bra keeps falling off in the middle of an important business meeting. You're all set for a relaxing bath when you undress and find deep red marks on your shoulders and around your breast. You've been fixing yourself in front of the mirror for hours for a hot date when, on a last minute check, you see unflattering "breast bulges" on the side of your dress. Two words: Embarrassing, annoying. One reason: you're wearing the wrong size of Bra.

Health Risk = Global surveys shows that 75 percent of women are actually wearing the wrong size of Bras. Wearing Ill fitting Bras could cause pain in the neck, shoulders and back, which could eventually lead to a more serious muscle-wasting weakness.

An alarming number of women are wearing a Bra which is too tight, This can cause headaches, tingling in the arms, back ache and poor posture. A smaller number tend to go for a Bra that is too big is not supportive around the chest a it should be. Breast without the adequate support could result in irreversible sagging, especially in women who exercise regularly. The female breasts are fragile. They rest upon the pectoral muscles and are held only by non-elastic bands called Cooper's ligaments that can act as anchors and support the breasts. A properly fitting bra supports the ligaments in the breasts to prevent them from over stretching.

Most women wear the wrong size of bra because they think their bra size doesn't change over time. It does. Some factors that can change w omen's bust size are weight loss, or gain, menstrual period, pregnancy and breast feeding or menopause. Experts recommend measuring your bust at least every two years. Take time to choose your bras carefully.

Tips to Bone Strength

Bone Strength

The strength of the bones in your body - such as the vomer bone or ischium or manubrium or radius - is controlled by a few simple factors. By taking just a couple of easy steps, you can improve your bone strength.

Exercise

Ok, Ok. That expert on TV always says you should get plenty of exercise. And if you are not getting any, they are right.

Two different kinds of cells alter the strength and curves of your different bones. The osteoclasts lay down more bone and the osteoblasts make it thinner. The activity of these cells is changed by electric currents. When you exercise, it causes a little electric current to go along your bone. The osteoclasts are then stimulated to build up bone as a result in the parts of the bone that has been stressed. The osteoblasts tend to absorb minute amounts of bone that is not stressed.

This action on the cellular level will even straighten out a bone that has been cracked and healed crookedly.

Diet

The strength of your bones comes from a crystal called apatite. Apatite requires much calcium and some phosphorus. That is why calcium is such an important part of your diet. Vitamin D makes the body absorb and utilize Calcium. That is why Vitamin D is a milk additive.

Dairy products have lots of calcium and are a good source of protein as well. That is fortunate if you are a fan of exotic cheeses like Makhhan cheese or Graddost cheese or Kulek cheese. Ice cream, cream cheese, cottage cheese as well as milk all are high in calcium.

On the other hand, you can get all the calcium you need on your plate without any dairy products at all. There are two reasons for this. First of all, many nuts, legumes, green leafy vegetables and grains are full of calcium.

Secondly, the protein in milk and other dairy products sticks to the calcium so you lose it. Therefore, although there is a lot of calcium in dairy products, it is harder to digest and absorb. So, if you are a vegan, you can get plenty of calcium.

One more thing. If your doctor tells you to take a calcium supplement, there is a great cheap and easy way to do this. Tums and Rolaids are primarily calcium carbonate. They provide plenty of calcium. However, don't use them for an antacid because calcium actually makes your stomach secrete more acid. And take them with your meals.

By taking advantage of a sensible diet and a daily exercise regimen, you can make great progress toward guaranteeing that you have good bones. Take care that you include calcium and vitamin D in your food and exercise at least three times a week.
